Who, What, Where, When, Why

That's way too much to address in one post, so I'll focus on "what" and "why." I could pretend I have some grand scheme in starting this blog but the truth is I don't. In addition to random ramblings (see Post One for proof positive), you may find entries on what interests me at any given moment (life in New York, the music and theater scene, lectures and conferences, editorial projects, my personal research and writing, ...). As for the reason behind this sudden foray into the blogosphere, aside from being envious of my Aunt's neighbor's cat, I must admit that a main factor is my not having advertised this blog to anyone. Friends, family and the Internet at large are all unaware that this masterpiece of fine writing and profound thought is underway. There is therefore a better-than-excellent chance my reader base is non-existent and I can write to my heart's content without fear of someone actually paying any attention. At this point, you (my fictional reader) may be thinking "doesn't this defeat the purpose of a blog?" Yes! No question, it does... except that I can now say that I am a blogger, steadfastly declining to share my URL, of course.
